Nanotol and the house fly  Musca domestica

  Hello Mr. Friedrich,

Immediately after the nanotol arrived, we tried  it out in bathroom and kitchen. The results were sensational. The water runs down the glass shower stall, hardly leaving a drop. Cleaning the sinks is much easier now thanks to the smooth finish The stainless steel hood over the stove, always a challenge with respect to spots, is a real eye-catcher.

We think the great results with Nanotol are also due to the recommendation to use the primer berfore treatment. It makes sense that a surface can be permanently sealed only if it has been especially treated beforehand.

But now to the house fly. We have a house, see attached picture, with many large windows. The specks left by flies in summer are not pretty. Yesterday, just after the window cleaner left, we coated two windows with nanotol as a test. We couldn't believe our eyes, the flies landed on the windows as usual, staggered around a bit, then flew away and looked for another place to land.

 This fully convinced us.

First thing today I treated my car and I am very satisfied with the results. I was especially impressed by how easy it was to use and to apply. I find it particularly nice that you can apply the product in the bright sunlight without getting streaks. Great, when you live in Spain as I do and are surrounded by sun and dust every day. As vehicle conditioners, we have tested several nano products in the past 3 years. We decided on "nanotol" because this product is easy to use and the paint retains its self-cleaning properties extremely long.This was not the case for other, cheaper products. For really satisfactory results, it is necessary to properly prepare the paint job (usually polish for a really smooth finish) and the correct use of the both components, primer and sealant. We have also had very positive experience with the stability and treatment of car windows with "nanotol". No streaking or clouding, not even after months.

It's a great product.

Report on Nanotol

I usually make a big detour around all those super magic cleaners in the building supplies store and I'm not especially big on washing cars or motorcycles. I just want them to be reasonably clean with as little effort as possible. I came across Nanotol more or less by accident and wanted to try it out on my motorcycle. A BMW 1200GS,  35 kg lighter than the previous model, which required the use of even more plastic parts. The special problems for cleaning are the clear windshield, the front plastic parts, the case (part aluminum, part plastic) and the seat that has a texture with deep ridges. Especially after trips through the countryside, the front parts become mass graves for insects. Removing them was always quite difficult and always with the risk of scratching the sensitive parts. Since there aren't the large surfaces such as in a car, cleaning is a time-consuming job.  

About use

So I sealed the whole BMW just like the instructions recommended. I was even brave enough to include the seat cover, even though it's not a "smooth surface". So i only used one cleaner and one product for all material. That was quite a change for me, when I look at the shelf with all the different cleaners for chrome, paint, plastic, and interior from earlier. The primer was the first highlight for me. I have rarely seen such a high-yield and effective cleaner that can be used on all finishes. Sealing itself was very easy and I had no problems polishing afterwards. I needed about 30 minutes for the cleaning part, 15 minutes to apply the nanotol, and another 15 minutes for polishing.Everything looked great, especially the seat, which had a beautiful silky sheen, as did the dark plastic parts, comparable with the results from an oily interior spray.  The paint and chrome parts looked like they had been waxed and polished. The aluminum rims and case look like they been coated with varnish

In use

For the next  3500 km, see picture from a short trip to Merano about 3 weeks after application, I just wiped off the flies and the dust from the rims with a moist microfiber cloth without any cleaner. That was surprisingly easy and thwere were noticeably fewer flies on the windshield than normal. At lower speeds, the flies don't even stick, they just slide away over the subjectively smoother surface. A short shower makes even this short cleaning unnecessary, everything is clean again. That's what convinced me to seal the helmets, especially the visors and the screen of my navigating device, my monitors and the windows in the office, etc. ….  Especially the matte finish of the navigator and the screens of my flat-screen TVs are noticeably smoother, easier to clean, but with the positive optical effects (low reflection) compared with the more common shiny monitors.

Long lasting

Since I didn't expect any miracles from the beginning, I didn't count on the effect lasting as long as stated, at least not for a motorcycle because of the heavy wear, many parts get quite hot and not all streets are paved. For my part I am satisfied that today, after about 6 weeks and 3500 km, I notice that the effect is considerably reduced, but not gone and that I will seal it again soon. Since the product is very high-yield and sealing does not take much time, I find the cost/benefit ratio very good.  

Summary

I will seal my BMW again and again, for its and for my sake, and the other objects I use as well. There are products for paint and chrome with about the same effect, but they are harder to use and do not last as long. I don't know of any alternative for aluminum and plastic. Nanotol is not cheap, but since I'd rather drive my motorcycle than clean it, the price is right.

We first used nanotol in the house. We have a large TV screen that always attracts dust and dirt quickly. Now thanks to nanotol sealant, it's no problem to clean it in a wink.

We also sealed the stainlass steel stove and the stainless steel exhaust hood with very good results.

We bought a brand new car a month ago. As soon as the paint has hardened, we will seal the entire car, especially the large sun roof. (We'll probably need to order more by then, although the product is very economical to use).
